UDK IN THE TIME-LINE1996 - Year of the band's creation. "You Decay"
is the name of their first demo-cassette ever
that made the band play several dates being the
most important one, a tour outside their home-town
as headliners.
1997 - UDK relocates at Santiago, and launches "Wrong"
their second demo-cassette wich one was reviewed in
many chilean and southamerican 'zines."Hurt Myself"
(Demo version) and "Wrong" were the tracks the band
decided to be their battle horses to introduce the band
in the media. The band plays some dates in
Santiago closing a blurry but important year in
Concepcion in a sold-out Show.
1998 - The band organizes a mini-tour through the south
of Chile, gaining enough to go into an studio to record
a promo single called "Machines Breeding" wich one was
co-produced by Rodrigo Contreras, The lead guitar from
CRIMINAL, and suppervised by Picoroco Records, the first
record label interested in the band.
The song was published in many compilation CD's as
Grinder magazine's 12 edition comp. CD, and made the doors
get open wide for the band to get into the chilean metal
scene.
1999 - "New Earth" as a new single, is registered to be
part of the "El nuevo metal chileno" compilation from
Grinder magazine. Results don't convince the band, and
abort the mission. Live dates continues, but the band begins
to see black for the future of their music.
2000 - UDK gets lost in their way to become what they always
wanted. The band keeps on rehearsing more than ever, but
convictions are not the same individually, maybe because of the
delay in recording their long-awaited debut. Record labels
walks around the band but doesn't offer a serious deal.
2001 - UDK splits-up. Bass player of that time leaves the band
making the rest think in dropping the project, because the main
goal wasn't reached. The album won't come, and the band starts
to become an excuse to party hard, until May, when lead
singer/guitarist, Drummer and lead guitar, re-joins and record
a new song called "Dry", make a TV appearance playing live 3 songs,
and starts a little tour making them earn enough to go into an studio,
at last, record their debut, "Hand That Feeds".
2002 - The band spends almost the year complete focusing in pre-production
of the album. Creates new songs as "Nosebleed" and "Perfect Human" and mix'em
with older ones as "From my past" to complete the line-up of the record.
They play several dates, but always focusing in the studio work. Mixes
doesn't works, and a full year goes to waste.
2003 - 2003 meanted mix, over mix, always refusing the first impression, and
looking for the perfect sound, in every detail. During November, Toxic Records,
the label involved in the project, gave the band the first copy of
the album, wich one was launched in Santiago in Laberinto Discotheque.
2004 - Hard promotion for "Hand That Feeds" made the band play almost the
whole year, in the whole country, including their first tour outside Chile.
Mendoza, Argentina was the first foreigner province were the band played.
Results were exiting and future now looked cool for the band.
2005 - The band part ways with guitarist Rodrigo Albornoz, and starts composing new songs.
During the search for a guitar player that could fill that hole, UDK plays as a "Power-trio"
receiving anyway all the compliments from the audience, even asking the band rest
like this, but songs were conceived with 2 guitars as well the new ones, so UDK kept on that search.
The band always tries to drive their music beyond frontiers, this time traveling to Montevideo,
Uruguay to play the last of the 2005 dates.
2006 - During June, Rodrigo re-joins UDK. Half a year as a trio,
and this other half as a quatrain, UDK finishes the composing process of their new album, play
live with much success and prepares the recording of the new tracks.
UDK is:
Alejandro Espinosa: Vocals/Guitars
Christian Villagran: Drums
Roberto Soto: Bass/Backing vocals.
Rodrigo Albornoz: Guitar.
