Check out the Charterhouse (Pete's, Mike's, Ant's and Tony's alma mater) School Choir singing this number on The London Symphony with David Palmer's album, "Genesis, We Know What We Like," released during the Eighties. I'll say awesome and leave it at that.

I remember playing this for my stepmother back in '79, using headphones, and hearing her exclaim, "That's the best thing I've ever heard in my life!"

So glad Steve Hackett includes this in his live shows. One of the most underrated pieces Genesis did, and a testament to Steve's creativity, and Tony's 'near miss' in almost keeping the track off of Selling England: a tragedy averted!

It's my ringtone, alternating w/ Tony's Firth of Fifth intro. So far nothing's supplanted them.

Spring of '65; I was 16 and the British had handily, with a few notable exceptions (Motown genius, anyone?), overtaken the American airwaves, and we couldn't get enough British brilliance, this being a prime example.

They were too good not to do a final project, all or mostly together. Chester could drum (assuming he's up to it) and Phil could participate in lead and back-up vocals, alternating and even dueting with Peter. Jeez, it's totally do-able, and in this case, simply worth it. Listening, guys?

shrivel1, I very much agree with you on altering memory patterns by frequent aural monitoring of this song, but for me, the song is simply too magnificant not to give an occasional or at times more than occasional listen.

I think the drumming (I guess it was Benny) is what floats this piece, driven of course by James. (And Eddie "Bongo" pulls the flow right along, with perhaps the most head-bobbing bongo solo of all time!)

When James was on he floor, inebriated, writing this, there was nothing to interfere with the muse, and the muse took full advantage!

The sound is great. I'd love to see video of this. Love the vocal harmonizing in parts and the fun guitar work, as at 3:26-32, to name one. Regardless, another priceless Kershaw original...

What better song introducing me to this regal woman's voice, exciting in it's seeming flawlessness, than our beloved Song to the Moon. Kudos to Antonin D., always! Makes one wonder if the voice he had in mind was indeed the future-existent Ms. Popp's...Sterling introduction, great artist!

Peter Gabriel has included this song on his current tour, accompanied solely by an orchestra, and modified to other cadences. It was certainly an interesting interpretation and, as much as I love and admire Peter, I'll hand this one to it's author.

Yeah, DangerousCharacter, I lied about my age, as one aspect of protecting my privacy. That doesn't discount the veracity of anything I said, and the beauty of it all, back in the Summer of Love in 1967. So there.

Once I lazed on a summer afternoon in 1967, the Summer of Love, and added this and other Astrud and Jobim gems to my Procol Harum and My Sgt. Pepper and my Motown. Thanks to my thoughful father, I got to know ACJ and his quiet Bossa Nova masterpieces well, and have cherished them since.

This simplistic stuff grows on me as I age. A nice sort of dividend after decades invested in this group.

Got to meet her after a performance delivered from her wheelchair, a couple of years before she passed. A memorable moment I'll cherish always.
