My most recent collection (The Trouble with a Short Horse in Montana) won the White Pine poetry prize and was published by White Pine Press in 2006. This fall I finished a manuscript called The Pop-up Book of Falling in Love, from which many of these are taken.

I've published two other book-length collections of poetry—Boy in a Boat (University of Alabama Press, 1986) and Any One Man (Bottom Dog Books, 1992)—and won a Creative Writing Fellowship in Poetry from the National Endowment for the Arts (2002).

Also, I'm a six-time winner of the Ohio Arts Council Individual Artist Fellowship, as well as the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs Individual Artist fellowship--all seven of these last awards in poetry. My poems have appeared in the Southern Review, Pleiades, Shenandoah, North American Review, the Laurel Review, Prairie Schooner and elsewhere. I've had work presented online at Magnolia, Drunken Boat, The Cortland Review and Foliate Oak Literary Journal.
