About Tudor Place

Tudor Place Historic House & Garden is an 1816 Neoclassical mansion and 5.5 acres of landscaped gardens, open to the public Tuesdays-Sundays. An oasis of history and beauty in D.C.'s elegant Georgetown district, the estate contains art, stories + gardens (including the largest Washington Family collection outside Mount Vernon) from six generations of one family descended from Martha Washington.

Located in Georgetowns Historic District, Tudor Place Historic House and Garden, a National Historic Landmark, is a house museum distinguished for its neoclassical architecture, decorative arts collection, and five-and-a-half acre garden. Built in 1816, it was home to Thomas Peter and his wife, Martha Custis Peter, granddaughter of Martha Washington. It housed six generations of the Peter family over the course of 180 years. Now, open to the public with a mission of preservation and education, the historic home is one of our nations hidden gems.
