About Me:

Enjoy the tunes.

Dedicated to those who love playing acoustic instruments and whose playing (and singing) ISN'T perfect, but we enjoy posting because it helps us get better and connect with others in the same boat

I grew up in Southern Kentucky, in a family where music was always being played. Learned ukulele first (from Sam Bush, no less, before he was famous), then guitar, piano and upright bass. Today, 5 string banjo is my primary timesink outside work and family. (Happily married and living in the Northeast. )

Typically, I plays soft slow bluegrass style banjo (without fingerpicks--too much trouble) with light vamp strumming for singing, or easy clawhammer or easy anything else. Love old hymns too.

Here are the songs I have in mind to post eventually (many of which I've already recorded on my iMac but they need a lot of time and work to edit or redo--particularly since I tend to concentrating too much on the music and not messing up (but do anyway!) and so often don't SMILE like a performer should (particularly in the early posts) so bear with me as I work on this). Please comment on the channel vote for those you'd like to see first:

On the wings of a dove: bluegrass banjo with backup harmony vocals from my wife

Raindrops keep falling on my head: uke
The Super Supper March by Dr. Suess: not sure what instrument

Spotted Pony; Rosewood Casket; This Old Hen: Clawhammer banjo
John Hardy: bluegrass banjo
Oh Susanna: harmonica and banjo
Somewhere Over the Rainbow: clarinet
Habbeytak Bessayf (summer love): ?
The Last Nail: guitar
Man of constant sorrow: banjo
Ashoken Farewell: fiddle--there's a little problem here in that I have one but don't really play the fiddle!
Blue Moon, Surfer Girl: Uke
Oh Lord I will be Thine, Always: uke
Am also interested in doing a few long distance collaberations.
