As a monk turned world traveler turned designer, I have larger goals in mind when designing my furniture. My vision of combining great design and authentic tradition has remained steadfast in its focus since the inception of my company over fifteen years ago. The mission was to be a bridge between disparate cultures - be they African, Japanese, American or tribal. The result- what I believe is an extraordinary and unique collection of modern furniture and accessories in which each piece is simultaneously a work of art and a reflection of worlds that have come before. At Tucker Robbins, every piece is made of living solid woods from distant lands. To honor the richness of the tree's color and grain, revealing as it does its history, we use only natural oils on our furniture to take on a rich patina as it burnishes naturally. In my Long Island City Studio our beautiful materials come together with our team of designers and cabinetmakers offering a custom furniture experience like no other. To fully appreciate the variety of woods and each pieces individual grain, I invite clients out to experience it first hand. We will wander through 16,000 square feet of beautiful material both recycled and carefully harvested as well as the many objects from all over the world that have influenced my creative journey. Then we sit down and discuss what we can build together. The custom piece is then built first by our designers on computer using CAD programming and then sent to our shop after the drawings are approved, assuring the final product is exactly what the client had in mind.
I welcome you to come and see the fruit of my inspiration and years of dedication at Tucker Robbins Showroom and Studio.
