One day, I discovered I had coglioni grande when I was standing right in front of the Swell of the big A-S at Trinity, Copley Sq., Boston, when, right in the middle of changing the film in my camera, the Trompettes (7" wp) were blasting in my face (he-e-e-ellllo!). That didn't seem to phase me, ...

Visited and heard this organ for the first time in 1984, and still remember the big sound of the 16' Bombarde. Had the buzz saw effect. Always liked that.

This organ never fails to captivate me. It's one of my favorites.
But one thing sort of bothers me.... if I were to play it, I don't I'd feel safe playing on the gallery console. Immediately behind the bench is a fall of about forty or fifty feet (yikes!). They should install a decorative ir...

This gave me goose bumps. The 3, who didn't like this, apparently don't like organ music at all. What is there NOT to like about this?
A great Willis masterpiece, a perfect room for it, the piece, that Ian's playing was flawless..... so what's wrong with it?
Thanks, JF.

Nicely presented, but not an organ clip. The church looks nice though.

Never do this!
You should NEVER put and en-chamade in the back of a church like that, where it's right on top of the people. The sound needs time to produce.

Not only is this trumpet inappropriate for this room, but, at least through my headphones, it sounds annoying. It probably would sound less annoying if placed in St. Paul's Cathedral, London or St. John the Divine as a secondary horizontal reed.

You might want re-upload this clip. It keeps starting and stopping even though all the digital info is right there. Otherwise, this sounds like a good penetrating reed.

At the end, you hear when Andrew released the keys, but the State Trumpet appears to linger on a little bit after that. That's what happens when you place a huge reed 500 feet from the main organ. The sound waves from the State Trumpet catch up to the microphone. It's all in the sound waves.

From what I've seen on both of these clips, and from what I've read about their restorations of historic organs, this is a company who does NOT fool around. I have a LOT of respect for the Fratelli Ruffatti company.

Just think. This organ is 50 years old this year!
Yours is a name I haven't heard of, but from listening to this, you obviously have a lot of experience. Flawless.
This was the correct organ to play the Reubke on.
