What I saw there was a marching band trying (and failing) to compete without even knowing (or caring about) the basics. If I had that band, we would be doing 8 to 5s up and down the field until they got that right, then we'd move on to other things.
I have watched all the best ending series, and the most glaring omission I could find was Star of Indiana '90. That had to be the most killer ending I have ever seen.
