2011 Vydubychi Church Choir Canadian Tribute Tour
To help mark 2011 — the 120th Anniversary of the arrival of Ukrainian pioneers in Canada, the Vydubychi Church Choir has been honoured with a joint invitation from His Eminence, Metropolitan Yurij of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Canada and His Grace, Metropolitan Lawrence of the Ukrainian Catholic Church of Canada to tour the country and participate in the celebration of this important event in Canadian history.
One of the Vydubychi Tour's objectives is to celebrate and promote Christian unity and understanding between Ukrainian Catholics and Orthodox not only in Canada, but also between Orthodox and Catholic Christians in Canada and Ukraine. Indeed, 2011 is a fitting time to emphasize that unity — a year in which the celebration of Christ's Resurrection in both Julian and Gregorian calendars coincides.
In addition to public concerts in 12 cities, the choir will celebrate Vespers and the Divine Liturgy in three metropolitan areas — Edmonton, Winnipeg and Toronto — alternating between parishes of the Ukrainian Catholic and Ukrainian Orthodox Churches.
