About this user

Hailed as one New Englands most promising talents, Andrew Stetson leads a life devoted to creative music making. With a diverse palate of musical expression, Andrew has performed with such ensembles as the Boston Philharmonic, Albany Symphony Orchestra, Nashua Symphony Orchestra, Huntington Brass Quintet, and founded and leads his own brass quintet, the Sonic Brass. He has shared the stage with soloists such as Marc-Andre Hamlin, Steve Drury, and The Marcus Roberts Trio.

Not just a sundry of ensemble collaborations, Andrew is beginning to lead an extremely active solo career. Teamed with pianist, Becca Zeisler, he placed second in the International Trumpet Guilds Solo Competition and has advanced to the semi-final round of the National Trumpet Competition's Graduate Division. This performance is scheduled for March of 2009.

Performing, however, is only one aspect of Andrews musical life. With a commitment to education, Andrew has performed over 20 full-length recitals at public schools all around New England. In 2006 he designed and implemented a weeklong residency in the Enfield Public Schools in Enfield, Connecticut to demonstrate the

connection music making and more traditional academic subject areas. In addition to these recital performances, Andrew maintains a lively private trumpet studio in Amherst, Massachusetts.

Andrew is currently finishing work on his Masters Degree in Trumpet Performance at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Trumpet Performance with an Education Concentration from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.
