i think most of us agree mariah was better, i like both of them but whitney was all over the place with the ad libing and too much and her voice was def not good as mariah's at this point. Mariah wasn't as good as she was in 96-97 nor whitney during her peak 88-89 but mariah was definitely better.

this was one bad performance from 1997 she had many toher good ones like butterfly at david letterman in which her belts still sounded almost like 96 and butterfly was recorded in 97 she was still in excellent voice as you all know if you've listened to whenever you call or outside
