The Tropical Forest Group is a Santa Barbara based non-profit dedicated to fighting climate change by saving tropical forests. Emissions from deforestation account for approximately 20% of climate changing greenhouse gases, yet the Kyoto Protocol's 1st commitment essentially ignores tropical deforestation. That could change this December in Bali at the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. The UNFCCC has a historic opportunity to pass language to help protect hundreds of thousands of hectares of rainforests while offering more ways for nations to reduce green house gas emissions. The Tropical Forest Group has a plan to get this urgent issue the attention it deserves. It involves a team of scientists; media specialists; 19 Yale law and forestry students; 30 Balinese Dancers; and 3 inflatable silk trees.
