About this user
Hey everyone my name is Travis Dales. I am 29 years old, and currently reside in Bandon, OR. Although I am originally from Loomis, CA.
I am a full time wrestling coach at Bandon High School, and am currently building their freestyle program from the ground up. I have 21 years of wrestling experience, along with 10 years of coaching experience.
While the sport of wrestling is constantly growing and becoming more popular, I have noticed a common struggle among young wrestlers and coaches alike. For a young wrestler, at some point in your carreer, you may find that you need to seek out, outside coaches or sources to take you to that next level.
If you are reading this and just said to yourself, " I do that all the time." Congratulations, you're on your way to becoming elite. However, in your effort to find outside sources, you will probably find it's not so easy.
Coaches, this apply's to you as well. The sport is alway's evolving, and we have to come to terms with the fact that the same techniques that our coaches taught when we were young, just aren't quite as affective as they used to be.
For example, when I was 8 years old, I was taught to shoot a high crotch, by clearing the arm, putting my hand in my back pocket, and reaching for the crotch. I would now teach it in this sequence. Clear the arm by simply pulling your opponents tricep to you, in a duck under fashion and reach behind the calf.
This is a much faster technique and takes away from the opponents ability to hook an arm or pull a leg back, while at the same time setting you up for a bailout crack down position or dump. And of course some fundamentals just never change.
I am making it possible for Wrestlers and coaches alike to find the knowledge and outside sources they need to take their wrestling to the next level. So I hope all enjoy and get as much out of this as I'll put into it!
Feel free to look me up on Facebook as well.
