Tormach Machining Videos Tormach's machining videos are a bottom up approach to learning the art and science of CNC machining - it is learning by example. Conventional references such as Machinery's Handbook approach manufacturing by explaining general theory. They explain relationships, like the relationship between surface speed, tool radius, and RPM, or establish broad guidelines, such as the machinability index. This is the top down approach; the idea is that once the larger scale concepts are understood it should be easy to formulate a solution to any individual problem. The top down approach is systematic and scientific, but it doesn't work for everyone and cannot resolve every problem situation. With a bottom up approach the depth of understanding is more limited, but the learning curve is far less daunting.
