Sounds like an exhaust leak, check your collector flanges to see if there is any carbon scoring. Also check your exhaust gaskets for the same carbon scoring. I've been chasing a similar sound and I've tightened down a lot of the exhaust bolts and sealed up quite a few leaks, but they're sneaky ...

It IS possible but why would you want to go for the 4.6 or 5.4, there are much better engines available :)

@bliglum The Viper ACR, when compared to a show room stock viper, is anything but a production car, it is a purpose built speed machine! A factory Viper has an 8 liter v10 making 500 hp, to me that screams over weight/underpowered.

@14omega28ok 'd be better off with a Diesel or 460 due to the weight of the truck, a 351M (or even a 400 for that matter) just doesn't have to power to move that much truck efficiently.

is the bellhousing on the transmission removable or do you have some sort of adapter plate? The reason I ask is because the difference between a SBF and BBF bellhousing is so different.

Anything you can do to a 351 Cleveland you can do to a 400, you just need to bush the small end of the con rods so you can use the good 351 Cleveland pistons and then get intake spacer plates so you can use the good 351 Cleveland intakes, just that simple!

I think the video poster is a lot bit off on the output of the GT, the GETRAG 6 speed is a stick shift and has very little parasitic drag, whereas the T56 that the vette has isn't quite as efficient... Nice race, it's good to see some people driving these cars like they're supposed to be driven

Hope the back fire didn't cause any internal engine damage, the more power you're pushing the more delicate you're engine's guts...
