This is a tutorial on how to get the most out of the Crystarium system in Final Fantasy XIII-2.
Why do this method? Well, if you follow this method, you can potentially receive about 200 more ATK or MAG stats than you would have if you randomly went about the Crystarium tree. A 200 stat difference is pretty large.
******Written Description********
The idea of this strategy is to get the most out of your Crystarium progress. You can still beat the game without following this particular route but using this will definitely make the game easier. The earlier you start adapting to this method means the more benefits you will receive.
In the Crystarium, you have large and small nodes. Large nodes gives additional stat bonuses when you level up a Role on the Large node.
-Commando(COM) receives a bonus +2 ATK
-Ravager(RAV) receives a bonus +2 MAG
-Sentinel(SEN) receives a bonus +6 HP
-Saboteur(SAB) receives a bonus +2 to ATK (even level) OR +2 to MAG (odd level)
-Synergist(SYN) receives a bonus +6 to HP (even level) OR +2 to MAG (odd level)
-Medic receives a bonus +6 to HP
To further explain the SAB and SYN conditions, when you level up SAB or SYN, you get certain bonuses depending on an even or odd level when you use them on a Large Node. For example, if you level up SAB from LVL 8 to LVL 9, you will get +2 MAG. When you LVL 9 to LVL 10, you will get +2 ATK. The same can be applied to SYN.
Because HP is not as beneficial as ATK or MAG, you will not want to level anything that gives an HP bonus on the Large nodes. You want mainly ATK or MAG bonuses on Large nodes.
With that information in mind, here is how you want to level up Serah and Noel.
***Serah***
Level Up RAV/SAB(odd)/SYN(odd) on ONLY Large Nodes.
Level Up SEN/MED on ONLY Small Nodes.
*You want to focus mainly on MAG here.
***Noel***
Level Up COM/SAB(even)/SYN(odd) ONLY on Large Nodes.
Level Up SEN/MED on ONLY Small Nodes.
*You want to focus on mostly ATK here.
As for SAB and SYN, you can Level them on small nodes when they don't give the best benefits on a Large Node. Example: SYN gives +6 HP on even levels, so whenever SYN is on LVL 2/4/6/8/etc, I should LVL them up on small nodes to get to LVL 3/5/7/9/etc.
