Squinting in the flood of Sonshine
About Me:
I am an organist, pianist and keyboardist, but really skilled people inspire me to try and ascend to fuller potential. Most of the time I can only admire them.
For those of us who were brought up in a harsh environment, we have recovery needs. Do you also believe that anything that robs us of truth and respect is abuse?
We are body, mind and spirit but the spiritual side of us is frequently ignored or undervalued. I believe that the value of true spirituality is that it is loving and kind and just and merciful and forgiving and leads to healing. Have you also found that our sense of being loved is a huge boost in freeing us to embrace wholeness? I believe the sacred is holy, but true friendships are holy too.
Hang in there. You can do it. Even if we learn one small step at a time...moment by moment, how to enjoy who we are and how to share what we are, we can grow into being all that we can be. My wish for you is that your every day be filled with smiles and surprises, with happy hugs all around.
Hometown:
Tiny Town in North Central
Country:
United States
Occupation:
I am a student sheep
Schools:
My favorite Bible teacher is Dr. Chuck Missler
Interests:
Health and history and Christianity. Do you bristle when confronted? I do. Do you blush when convicted? I do. Nevertheless, I am constrained to embrace all of Christ. I confess He is my Lord and Savior. The greatest truth I am learning is His grace and mercy...and strength....Values aspired to...Where there is Patience and Humility, there is neither Anger nor Annoyance.Where there is Poverty and Joy,there is neither Envy nor Greed.Where there is Peace and Contemplation, there is neither Care nor Restlessness.Where there is the reverence of God to guard the dwelling, there no enemy can enter.Where there is Mercy and Prudence, there is neither Excess nor Harshness.--by Francis Assisi....The Wounded Healer...Nobody escapes being wounded. We all are wounded people, whether physically, emotionally, mentally, or spiritually. The main question is not "How can we hide our wounds?" so we don't have to be embarrassed, but "How can we put our woundedness in the service of others?" When our wounds cease to be a source of shame, and become a source of healing, we have become wounded healers.Jesus is God's wounded healer: through his wounds we are healed. Jesus' suffering and death brought joy and life. His humiliation brought glory; his rejection brought a community of love. As followers of Jesus we can also allow our wounds to bring healing to others.
Movies:
"Fireproof", "Facing the Giants", "Seven Pounds" , "Faith Like Potatoes", "The Passion of Christ". Also fun imaginative movies like "The 10th Kingdom", The Fifth Element", "The Day After Tomorrow", "Gullivers Travels", and "Alice In Wonderland". Also adventure, crime-solvers, drama, historical and mystery stuff. House M.D. and Dr. Who, 24, CSI type, etc. Pride and Prejudice and Pirates of the Caribbean. Also, Narnia, Left Behind series, Lord of the Rings, Shakespeare, Mr. Bean, Brave Heart, Anne of Green Gables. Oh, another wonderful historically true adventure movie..."Whale Rider".
Music:
Most any music moves me.
Books:
At the moment I am studying the Book of Colossians and just finished Romans and Ephesians... So many wonderful truths to drink in... Who we are in Christ and all that He has done for us.. In a wide sense it addresses faith, hope and love. It is kind of like our life...filled with faith, hope, and love. Does it seem to you that where and in whom we place our everything, as to these qualities, is what can guide or defeat completeness? May I pray for you that you find the best fulfillment in these areas in your life? I confess that I find that faith, hope, and love frequently leave my understanding in suspension, and yet it is pivotal to true peace and love. Do you too have a longing for mercy? Do you wonder when there will be justice toward all things? This mystery is solved in Jesus Christ and He works through the Bible and can work through His people. So, I suggest that you never isolate yourself. Find your circle of people you can safely talk to and who will listen to you and your needs. You see, when we are the sole interpreter of all that is happening we become vulnerable to a lot of scary thoughts and aspirations. Sharing brings clarity and validation and growth to our thinking. In a sense, strength and wisdom only comes from being connected to uplifting friends. To the extent this is true, may this love and friendship lavishly cover you.
