Life in Tokyo #74: Stimulus tokyocooney - 再生回数 6,134 回 - 1日前
I get my government stimulus check. In an attempt to be a good citizen I immediately went out and spent the lot of it on things I probably didn't really need. Oh well.

For the final tally on money spent... (I think)

Bucket of Fried Chicken - 1,450
Plant for Kenji - 500
Head Messager - 2,600
Semi-Erotic Ear Cleaning - 980
Setta (Shoes) - 2,000
Eel - 2,700
Coffee & Croissant - 500
Terminator Tix - 1,200
Popcorn & Cola - 500

Total: 11,930 Yen

Well, it took long enough. Sorry about that. But here its is. Much longer than I meant it to be, but I suppose its because my house is bigger than the last time I gave a tour.

If you are interested in learning more about the details of renting a house in Japan I recommend you look at my video titled.
FYI Housing.

Life in Tokyo: Vlog #72 Big Tobacco, Small Museum tokyocooney - 再生回数 42,924 回 - 1月前
I don't smoke. But that doesn't mean I couldn't enjoy the Tobacco and Salt museum in Shibuya. Its not the greatest museum ever, surely. But it is worth a peak inside if you are in the area, especially because the entry fee is only ¥100.

Occasionally the temporary exhibit on the 4th floor is surprisingly interesting. The 3rd floor salt area is highly miss-able.

Music:
"100 Cigarettes" by Big Sugar

As for the other museums I recommended:

Want to know something about Tokyo or see video of it, let me know and ask a question. I finally gave into the urge and jumped on the V-blog bandwagon. This is mostly babbling about strange vending machines in Tokyo.

Number two in my FYI series of videos. Its for informational not entertainment purposes, so dont expect any laughs. Also, I am not an expert on these things, this is just what Ive heard and experienced personally. You should of course be researching this in as many ways as possible if you are considering moving abroad.

Welcome to my new F.Y.I. videos

This video is a bit of a divergence from my usual videos in that it is more factual than fun. ( I hope my other vids were fun!)

This video explains as well as I can the diffficulties/joys of renting an apartment in Tokyo. Please comment, or post a video comment if you have advice that would be USEFUL to someone thinking about living in Japan. I only know from my own experience so please share yours....

Some more info on Visas in Japan. As I said in the video, Visas are a very complicated matter and the rules are rather vague and handled case by case. Hopefully the web links below will help you out. The most accurate information should be on the Ministy of Foreign Affairs Website, and as they say its best to direct your questions to your local Japanese embassy or consulate.

Please add any extra comments, info or advice in the comment section!

Blogs and video about my life in Tokyo. I've been here 8 years and counting. Though I whine a lot, I love this city and Japanese culture.

I also have a webpage http://TokyoCooney.com to explain more about me, give travel info and my blog postings.

Also find me on BlogTV on Fridays at Noon Tokyo Time LIVE, answering questionsand interviewing fellow tokyoites.

To answer your questions I have a FAQ, please read this and watch my FYI videos before mailing me. My response time to e-mail is very long. Apologies.

Hey! I used to be a subscriber before my old account got booted and had to make a new one.. but I kept forgetting to add you. Anyway, I'm studying in Japan at the moment and I just wanted to let you know I saw you on a show that teaches English on TV last night (7/02)... I think? I forget the name of the show, unfortunately... and the channel. lol

While I'm here, just wondering if you know what the Gyms and general "keeping fit" culture is like in Japan? I'd like to keep up my training while I'm over ther, and for some reason I imagine gyms to be different (like most things!) in Japan. Any tips?? (p.s. I havn't gotten through all your videos just yet so appologies if you've covered this in one already!)

Alright mate, Fantastic Videos! I'm heading to Japan in October for a year, never been before so I can't wait to get there! Genuinely extremely appreciative of your videos, entertaining and informative! Keep up the good work!

It would be a pretty long commute for a date! I am not sure if Haggis and whiskey can ever be THAT good. And my company is not worth a return flight from Japan to Scotland. : ) (very hard to reply to that commetn without looking like I was fishing for comments or taking back my offer)
