2009 Utah All-State Jazz Ensemble
This is the Utah All-State Jazz Band directed by Brandon Lee of The Juilliard School and performed at UMEA Conference in St. George on February 7, 2009.
There is one song missing, Cantaloupe Island. If anyone got a video of that please share it with me.
Also, please note that I was trying out a new microphone that is supposed to zoom into the sound when the camera zooms in on something. I have learned a couple of things; 1) Don't switch settings mid-song! and 2) I need some additional practice.
The Music School's Lyceum Orchestra 7/11/2008
The Music School's Lyceum Orchestra performs at Abravanel Hall with Utah's Choral Arts Society under the direction of Sterling Poulson and Kayson Brown.
This series of videos mainly focuses on my daughter and her friend. I usually like to get the whole group, but there was a railing in my way and I gave up trying.
Crescent Super Band New York July 2008
Crescent Super Band Performs in Greenwich Village, NY at the Sweet Rhythm Jazz Club (formerly the Sweet Basil Club) with guest artist Brian Lynch.
What others said about the performance:
Club Owner, James Browne: "Tonight the Crescent Super Band made history. I'm a jaded New Yorker who's been in the business for over 30 years and I've never seen anything like this! The band is hired! Any time they are in town they have a home at Sweet Rhythm!"
Club Manager, Steve Okon: "I worked at this club in the 80's when it was Sweet Basil and the legendary Gil Evans Big Band made regular appearances. This band sounded BETTER than many nights with Gil's band. These kids are amazing!"
Brian Lynch: "It was MY honor to play with this band. I can't believe they put together one of my hardest tunes in one rehearsal! I played here at Sweet Rhythm in the old days with Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. It was swinging just as hard tonight. These kids are the real deal!"
2008 Utah All-State Jazz Band
2008 Utah All-State Jazz Band. I wanted to list the soloists' names and the names of all the kids, but I decided not to because I didn't want some psycho bugging them.
Sorry about the brightness behind the rhythm section. I used the backlight setting, but it didn't totally fix the problem.
