Thanks for the comments! The tone on the cake videos is pretty much the neutral tone of the bass. The head isn't really adding much, except using the VPF filter to cut the mids a bit. The majority of tone comes from the hands themselves. As for compressors, I wouldn't say they suck the tone out of your instrument, but they certainly change how they sound. Just use them in the light / moderate range and your bass will end up cutting through the mix much better, sounding much more clear.

Op de een of andere rare manier kan ik niet meer inloggen op AnnelilovesWT dus dan maar even via deze haha. Ik ga niet naar pinkpop (although ik wel héél héél graag wil..) ik ga lekker lowlandsen. Jij dan? :)

Actually, yes. My bass amp is in the rehearsal room. So, at home I make all my recording through a guitar "Spider jam".
And besides, all my drum backtracks I have also take from that guitar combo. :)
