Hello, welcome to my channel!
My name is Tobias Volkamer. Originally from Düsseldorf, Germany, I have been living in Zurich for 6 years now.
I started playing the guitar when I was 15 years old. As soon as I was able to play some chords, people asked me to sing while playing, but I did not want to learn lyrics.....so I started playing bluesharp to accompany myself on the guitar.
Years later, a friend of mine, who heard me playing, offered me a chromatic harmonica as a gift. On it, there where all those notes I`ve missed on the bluesharp! However the chromatic harmonica made me face a new challenge as it has a button to push for some of the notes.
My solution was to build a footpedal to push instead of using my hand.
In the beginning, it was totally confusing not to tap the beat with my foot, but to push the pedal depending on the melody.
I had to practice a lot, and finally I managed to become better. I started to play more difficult tunes with faster and more complex chords and melodies.
By now, my music has become a real friend to me, who demands a lot (of practicing), but also gives a lot in return.
Playing chromatic harmonica and guitar is a great pleasure for me, and I am grateful for the fortunate coincidence, that has led me to it.
