I am taking Liberty next February... it's easier to get off work that time of year, fares are lower and there are usually less kids onboard. I think it's a great time to cruise!

Every cruise line will skip ports for safety reasons. It has no difference if its Carnival or RCI or NCL or Disney...

A ship alongside a pier can be severely damaged if winds knock it into it, or if its a tender port, it could mean passengers are stuck ashore.

Dream does have the full Waterworks park and lanai promenade, unlike many of her fleet mates.

No, this is a member of Carnival's Dream-class. Concordia is part of the Concordia-class which looks more like Carnival's Conquest-class which includes Liberty, Freedom, Glory and Valor. Costa does have a Dream-class ship of their own on order for delivery in 2014.

Modern lifeboats and their davits are designed so the lifeboats cannot sink, they would become detached if drug underwater and float to the surface.

The ship seems to be handling it very well though, most cruise ships would be bobbing like crazy.

@americansouthwest Totally, most cruise lines have HORRIBLE sounding tones. Carnival Corporation's lines all seem to use this tone now (Princess, HAL, etc). Much better.
