For the Ontario, California native, who wowed thousands of Latin pop fans in the early 2000s as a member of the vocal group Soluna, it all kicks off with a celebration. Fifteen years after Macarena first captured the worlds imagination, were dancing, grooving and falling in love with the Los Del Rio megahit again thanks to explosive new videos and a batch of high energy remixes on the Spanish duos new album Quinceanera Macarena. The songs resurgence, which includes over 130,000 hits to date on YouTube, clips airing on many Latino video channels and airplay on major radio stations nationwide and in Puerto Rico, is being fueled by an infectious remix from the studio team The Art Of Sound.
The track features vocal performances by El Chino DreadLion (Yerba Buena), Yeyo (The DEY) and, most prominently, Lopez, who was chosen for the role after an extensive worldwide audition process. Lopez, who is also a popular film and TV actress and dancer, stars in the clip with Los Del Rios Antonio Romero Monge and Rafael Ruiz. When I was approached to sing on the new version and perform in the video, she says, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to represent my culture in a fun, positive way, and connect with fans of both American and Latin pop music. I didnt realize until after I worked on these projects that they literally went all around the world to look for the new Macarena girl, and I feel so blessed and honored to have this opportunity.

They told me they needed someone who sang, danced, spoke both languages and also portray this character of a high spirited, strong Latina, Lopez adds. Considering the fact that this is one of the biggest selling singles of all time, I knew that being the face of the new Macarena was a big position to fill. But Im having a blast and am excited by the response its getting, particularly from the young girls out there, some of whom are also celebrating their Quinceranera this year.

Domingo Zapata, Chairman of IMC Records—which recently released Los Del Rios Quinceranera Macarena album—and co-writer of the new Spanish version of Macarena, echoes the singers thoughts: We are very pleased. T Lopez is a great example to the many Latinas who share a fifteenth birthday with our song. More than 400,000 Latinas were born the year that LDR made music history, and now many of them are celebrating with a Quinceanera party and are dancing to these new versions of Macarena.
