@jonnyeis Nope. '86. (I currently march under one of the drill writers for '86). I guess you're kinda right about "breaking the norms," but to sum it up they just wanted to do something different. It's not as deep as they make it out to be; at this point it's packaged with all the other tradition...

@mrfreedomthomas there is actually a difference in difficulty and cleanliness... watch enough high cams, go to enough shows, march in a corps, and you'll notice there is indeed a difference between the "tiers"

it's not that every corps from the open class finalists up aren't amazing on a world s...

@fregia54 There's still a thickness within their playing that separated them between say, Cavies or Rennick's last PR line... they play difficult beats with lots of sack, where it's alot tougher to get to that highest level of clean
