We are constantly creating a new reality with our thoughts, prayers, and actions. So in essence, we are co-creators of this world. If we want to live in a place free from terror, war, hatred, and fear, then we must create thoughts of love, peace, and goodwill towards every being around us. Where love exists, there can be no indifference - whether it be to killing an animal, to hearing about a death statistic in a third world country, or to knowing that the person you once loved is enjoying their life more than you are right now. We are spiritual beings learning how to be human - enjoy life, love yourself, and above all, respect all beings.
