@seemedlikeagoodidea I don't really think that is meant a cute little joke. Basically, the guy beats her with a rubber hose and then takes her out to dinner and buys her new clothes {as a poor attempt at an apology}. No one approves of that situation, but that's the way that the world goes 'round.
