Tony Williams on drums is simply incredible! Miles Davis had said a drummer like Tony comes along every 50 years...he couldn't have been more right about at. A line up for the ages: Jaco, Tony, and Herbie, just killin it! Thank you for posting this great piece.

In the BBC documentary, Don Alias, who plays conga on this recording said he and Jaco did it in just one take, and that's what you're hearing. Jaco's wife who got a producer at Epic to first hear him played this same piece in a bar one night dressed only in shorts, no shoes, carrying just his bas...

Jaco Pastorious at his best...with that big fat sound.. poppin that fretless bass! A great Wayne Shorter composition...what else would you expect...they'll never be another Wayne!

Love this song, this album, which I consider her best, but boy what a pretentious bore! I couldn't listen to the full interview she gave for the BBC and I'm a huge fan! It's no wonder she was always writing about failed relationships and no wedding bells ringing.

It always sad when someone senselessly passes this way and of course at that age. I was never a fan and couldn't quite understand what all the fuss was about, (I mean it's just a rehash of early 60s American R&B). Still it was only a beginning, and who knows where her talent could have taken her....

I just went through his work, or what I remember of it, and this album with this piece especially is his best. This entire album has some of his most original and memorable works, and this particular track is excellent. The arrangement is quintessentially Zappa.

At that point in time this was the music...no doubt. And to these ears it's still tight and more then that. As usual the bass is always goin on their tracks...she plays great.

...but here the solos at the break and at the end kill me...some kind of extra terrestrial harem music.
