He is a five time Senior Fulbright Professor at the Romanian National University of Music in Bucharest, and Tibiscus University in Timisoara. He was also a Senior Fulbright Professional Specialist Lecturer at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban, South Africa and the Serbian National Academy of Music in Belgrade. Since 2002, his work in Romania has drawn wide attention as the only foreigner to have been awarded the Romanian National Radio Prize, that country's highest musical honor. In 2005, he founded and coordinated Romania's first summer music camp, and helped establish their first school of jazz music.
