Duct taping: NO! NO!
When freshman come into the school they are mostly scared of one thing, the horrendous duct taping.
Duct taping has gone around for three generations in the tradition of initiating the incoming freshman but this year has now reached a new limit.
During the beginning of this year, some of the junior class decided to duct tape these freshman. In there fun and exciting time of showing these incoming freshman what to look forward to, they decided to post the eight minute long video of them doing such a thing on You Tube and Myspace.
All the people that were identified were suspended for half of a day. This tradition of accepting freshman into our school has gotten boring and distracting, even some what embarrassing to the school.
Why do we want school spirit yet we basically scare these freshman to not want school spirit? Cant we choose a new tradition into inducting these freshmen instead of duct taping them? Lets put them in spirit instead of ripping it off.
Some of the lucky ones dont get duct taped. Based on knowing whos up in the school you have a good chance of not getting duct tape. If you know most of the upper classmen then you are bound to get wrapped around a poll.
These freshmen are the new faces of this school and they deserve a fun four years instead of being traumatized by their grueling experience of being attached to a poll or wall.
Lets always welcome our freshman in a fun and friendly matter instead of frightening.
