Guen Tag,

I am Frances Dafoe's son and am writing to enquire about obtaining a digital copy of the wonderful Cortina Olympic footage of Frances Dafoe and Norris Bowden that you posted to YouTube

My mother is about to turn 80 in December and is in the midst of compiling footage of her skating career for her Grandchildren. The only footage that she does not have is from their performance in Cortina and she was delighted to know that it even exists.

Could you please let me know how I might go about obtaining a digital copy of the footage from you for her.

Many thanks,

Adrian Dafoe

Hi there,

This is Shelley from London's East End Film Festival. I've noticed a few videos/amutuer footage of the 1948 Summer Olympics from your collection, and wonder if it's possible to borrow some shots for our film training and production project.

The project aims to draw a connection between the memory of 1948 Olympics and the run-up for 2012 games, therefore I am trying to gather a few archive footage to use during the editing of short films that the project produces.

I wonder if you can offer some clues about using your videos, as well as the legal side of things. Your help will be much appreciated.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi,

I am a graduate student at the University of California currently making a short documentary, and I am in need of footage of the men's 400-meter race and the women's 100-meter race from the 1948 Olympics in London. I have found quite a few clips that you have posted on YouTube from the 1948 Olympics, and would like to know where you found this footage and if it would be possible to obtain a copy?

We would be very grateful for your help in locating this footage.

Thanks,
Kiran

My mother who is now 88 was the British athlete Dorothy Tyler who won the Silver medal on the newly introduced countback system, despite reaching the same height as the winner. This was a reversal of the 1936 Berlin Olympics where she again won silver of the then system of dropping the bar height and seeing who could clear the bar again.
She thought there was no coverage of the high jump and is thrilled to see it.
Can you shine any light as to where this film has been since it was shot as there was no official filming of her event.

Hi,

I see you have a lot of amateur videos on the London 1948 olympics. I'm doing a PhD research on these olympics. Can you tell me a bit more about who made the videos?

Kind regards,
