I love Steve Vai's playing, he's technically amazing. The difference is that EVH plays with much more feeling, soul and tone. Vai would not exist if it were not for EVH. Van Halen's playing gives me goosebumps, Vai'splaying just makes me say wow, that's really difficult and fast, but it has no soul.
