City Rain was Ben Runyan only for this release. In the last year or so from what I've gathered, City Rain has even become a full fledged band at times. I downloaded this album off the lala website (when it still existed) back around the time I uploaded that other City Rain song about a year ago.
I was playing this digital copy of the album I bought then the other day and it's really smooth and despite being largely electronic it has many organic elements such as keys jangling, birds chirping, train sounds. dishes rattling and more. It really humanizes the music and feels like every day life. That's not all displayed in just these two songs, but these songs do run consecutively on the album and figured I'd just load them both in the same file.
The newer City Rain material seems to have distorted vocals and maybe more of a dance vibe. I am happy to see (what could even be called a band at times) him branching out, but it's going to take me a little bit getting used to the addition of vocals I guess. This stuff here though is pure bliss.
