Five Minute Lessons -- 7 Step Process1) Introduce yourself and teaching area.
2) First show an overview of the completed topic -- thus showing the outcome to be achieved.
3) Teacher should explain the OBJECTIVE of the five minute lesson while scanning outcome and edit beneath screen or show any relevant state standards. (max. 60 sec.)
4) Topic: Entice viewer's interest in your topic by appealing to what they may already know about subject—showing something familiar (be conscious of cultural relativity to what is "familiar"; therefore, you may need to briefly show several different things):
· Place
· Person
· Product (particularly with Math and science)
This segment could include one or all three of the above. (max. 30 sec.)
5) Do your thing: TEACH!
Make sure that materials, footage, and verbiage are acceptable for the educational community. (max 120 sec.)
6) Invite viewers to use metacognition by reviewing what you covered and posing questions that other teachers may ask their students. (max. 20 sec.)
7) Invite viewers back for more of your lessons!
(max. 10 sec.)
