Kira and Jeff grew up down the road from each other in the small town of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. With a shared passion for music and a little help from fate, this husband and wife team began the journey toward their dream at a very young age.

It all started in the fourth grade, when Kira realized that she had a crush on Jeff. She watched him play guitar with his band at the school dance and knew she had to become their lead singer. It wasn't until the 8th grade trip to Washington D.C. when Kira finally worked up the nerve to sing in front of her classmates. Word spread quickly, and Jeff requested an impromptu audition on the playground. He was so impressed with Kira's voice that he invited her to the next band practice at his parent's house. Over the next 10 years they continued to write songs and perform hundreds of gigs throughout the mid west, building a fan base in their local music scene.

In 2006 Kira and Jeff decided to change direction and refocus on their songwriting. They spent months writing and recording demos in Kira's parent's basement. Out of those sessions inspirational songs such as "Courage Is..." and "You Can't Go Back" emerged. They didn't know it at the time, but these writing sessions would become the foundation for their first album as The Strange Familiar. The band formed when Kira and Jeff met bassist, Frank, at a local gig in Akron. It was immediately evident that Frank would be a perfect addition to the band. After playing together for only a couple months, the trio was inspired to pick up and move to Los Angeles to pursue their career in music. The timing couldn't have been better when drummer, Nicholas, an old friend from Ohio, requested an audition via myspace (a message that was almost overlooked). Nicholas had been playing in bands for twelve years before he decided to drive across the country in his '93 Honda Accord. After one rehearsal, everyone knew the band's lineup was complete.

The band started gaining attention when their song,"Courage Is...", was featured in promos used to launch a brand new series on ABC Family. Without radio play, it quickly became a huge fan favorite and generated thousands of downloads and created internet buzz for the currently unsigned band. The Strange Familiar broke into the top 10 on iTunes in the Rock category and stayed in the Top 100 for several weeks. TSF continues to hold the Top Unsigned artist spot on Myspace from their region.

Now, The Strange Familiar lift their resonant pop rock to new heights on their debut, full length album "This Is Gravity". It features 12 tracks including the undeniably catchy new single "I Just Want To Love You". Their powerful sound is defined by the pairing of Kira's soaring vocals and elegant piano with Jeff's intricate guitar work. "This Is Gravity" was released independently in late 2009 and is now available on iTunes.
