When thoughts are abundant, to avoid losing them, we put them writing and free up space for other ones...we materialize them.. so says the new Latvian band - The Sound Poets.
It all began many years ago, when Janis, the one who owns the vocal, got his first keyboard. He started to write down melodies sounding in his mind. At beginning, those where only instrumental pieces. Until he met his chorus mate Arturs, the one, who presently is behind the keyboards. Arturs suggested adding some vocal parts to those melodies. And this was the point, when there where born an idea of making their own band.
But it wasn't meant to happen that soon. It took a long time to find the right people, with whom Janis and Arturs could establish the band. They where patently waiting for moment to arrive.. Moment arrived in autumn of 2006, when both friends met Ingars, the bass player, who added his many year pop-rock musician experience to their songs, so it all began to sound more alive and pop-rocky. And that's where the band -- named The Sound Poets - started! Shortly afterwards band guitar player Normunds and drummer Andris joined the band. Previously both guys where members of other bands, that played different kind of music. So, when knowledge and experience of all band members mixed together, the sound of band has born, like it sounds today -- melodic and powerful, a lots of piano part, whom are more than just a chords in a background, mean time living friendly together with guitar riffs. It is all about making the Music that speaks straightly to human heart and evolves true emotions.
Founded in autumn of 2006, the very core of the band S is Janis Aispurs (voice, keys, acoustic guitar) and Arturs Eglitis (voice and keys). Also Ingars Vilums (bass guitar), Normunds Luksa (guitar) and Andris Buikis (drums) have become full-fledged members of the band.
In late 2006, The Sound Poets. had its first song Pearl Tears aired on the radio and gained astounding success by topping the Radio SWH chart. Also the second single Poet topped the SWH chart in May 2007. Pearl Tears was the second most played song in June on Rietumu Radio, while the song Poet climbed to 4th position on Latgale Radio. And their third song "Feeling behind" also climbed the radio charts, being a TOP3 song.
That's it for now, but certainly not all. We hope it's only the beginning..
