I post this stuff as its my choice in life style and its under attack from alot of minority groups that dont have a full understanding of My choice of food gathering and hobby and wish to label myself and fellow hunting, shooting enthusiasts as wreckless and wild red necks. While that is the stereo type and all stereo types come from some truth its not always the case. The anti hunting groups spread heavily biased, emotive and more often than not, mis truths about hunting and gun ownership. I dont tell people that they shouldnt eat tofu and rice and harp on about the many negative environmental effects of its farming, procesing and logistics world wide and how with out modern technology, proccesing, water wastage, land clearance, fuels and plastics it wouldnt be possible to be a vego in the modern experiance. So why should they pick on my choice of life style and food?
I eat meat and the meat bought from a supermarket comes from a slave animal that never lived a free day in its life and has been fed hormones in alot of cases and had chemicals used on it. the intensive farming of stock, its transport packing and sales contribute to more environmental harm than any hunter or even all hunters put together. Infact hunters are a major part of native conservation not only through the managment and eradication of feral donkeys, camels, pigs, buffalo, cats, wild dogs and foxes (directly responsible for more native extinctions than humans in AUS and native bush destruction) but through money spent on habitat conservation and regeneration. Hunters and hunting organisations contribute more time and money annually on bush and wet land preservation than any other group. The African example is the most widely written about.
All that aside, I enjoy shooting targets at the range and I AM NOT a criminal and shouldnt be made to feel like one for choosing a hobby that just isnt up the ally of some mis informed, urban, nothing better to do whinger. The very same people that complain that they should be able to express themselves the way they feel too.
