The reunification of Ireland is the natural conclusion to 800 years of destruction of the Irish people. The racism and bigotry which has been a hall-mark of the Ulster loyalist will not continue into the next generation.
Having declared the justness of the reunification of Ireland, it must also be stated, quite uncategorically, that the people of Ireland have declared overwhelmingly their desire to move away from the strategy of Armed Struggle. Notwithstanding the heroic actions undertaken by countless heroic Irish men and women over the centuries, the situation on the ground in Ireland now precludes armed struggle, and it is the duty of every patriot to advance Irish Reunification through peaceful channels. Morally and honour-wise, we are bound to this path, but also, more significantly, it is my opinion that the Reunification of the Irish Nation will be advanced far more rapidly by peaceful and parliamentary methods. In other words, Reunification depends on peace.
For 800 years the people of Ireland have asserted their National identity in the face of utter slaughter. During that time, concerted military efforts were made to destroy the People of Ireland, its culture and its language. Twice indeed, the population of Ireland collapsed by half under this onslaught, first under Cromwell in the 1650s, and then in the aftermath of the Great Famine of the 1840s. Within this history of dispossession and despoilment, the Irish people refused to submit, and thus in 1921, Britain withdrew from 26 of the 32 counties of Ireland. Now Ireland stands at the gates of Reunification, and no earthly force can hold back that tide.
