It all depends on the definition of homosexuality. In ancient times, homosexuals were those who had sex with people of the same sex. So even if you had those desires, you weren't considered homosexual unless you acted on those desires. So it was considered a choice.

Whether or not homosexuality is a choice depends on the definition. The Biblical definition of homosexuality is someone who has sex with someone of the same sex (Leviticus 18:22) which would make it a choice.
