The Portlands formed in 2009 and have toured the UK with their distinct brand of Rock n' Roll. After sharing studio space with Elbow three months into their formation whilst recording their debut EP "Escapades"at Blueprint Studios, they went on to play at venues up and down the country on their first UK Tour - with a 15,000 capacity festival date at the end of summer 2010 -- also pulling in the largest crowd!!. Press coverage, interviews and radio play followed.

The summer of 2010 ended with a trip to Skyline Studios over in NYC to work with Nick Miller (Billy Joel, Patti Smith, Julian Lennon) for the band's EP "Peace, Love, Soul".

March 2011 held The Portlands' first headline slot at Manchester Academy 3, with good friends The Lottery Winners. The bash was a complete sell-out and was a great set for both band's HD Live performance recordings you can find all over YouTube.

This date doubled as the launch-party for The Portland's debut single; electronically released across Europe and The Americas via i-Tunes, Tunecore, Amazon and various other distributors. The single and music video gained good acclaim, being reviewed unbeknown to the band by local American radio stations, paper reviews, and has generated interest in other countries the band are yet to visit -- as far away as El Salvador!!

Never resting, The Portlands are on the verge of releasing their greatest work to date. "Noctilucent", a collaboration with legendary guitarist Mr Jerry Donahue (Fairport Convention, The Hellecasters, Robert Plant) is a new EP of which the single "Every Word I Sing (Is a Lie)" is set for release March this year.

The BBC's very own Sam Walker (BBC Manchester, BBC Introducing) has taken an interest in the band's music and we can expect to hear more BBC airplay in the coming months.

The guys have managed two more such sell-outs at Manchester Academy in previous months, generating more and more attention from their energetic performances and excellent live sound.

This year will also see the launch of the guy's very own Dusk Records -- a collaboration of musical talent - a wealth of which is present in their home towns of Wigan and Manchester. The Label is spear-headed by The Portlands and Live and Unsigned Winners The Lottery Winners.

2012 presents a busy year for the guys -- you can expect more mainstream radio play, March's "Every Word I Sing (Is A Lie)" single and music video release, the rise of Dusk Records and some big dates coming your way very very soon.
