-Who are you?
Our names are Ryan and Richie, and we're twin brothers. We take songs you'd normally hear on the radio, in movies, video games, etc. and post piano versions of them on youtube for fun.
-What's your nationality, how old are you, and are you really twins?
Filipino, 20 (not 15), and yes we are twins (for proof, see our "Pork and Beans" cover or "Super Mario Bros. Theme Song" cover)
-How long have you been playing the piano?
We started taking lessons when we were about 6 or 7 years old and stopped at age 10 (we had about 3-4 years of lessons), but ever since then, we've been learning and practicing on our own.
-How did you get the idea to start making piano covers?
It all started during summer 2007, when our friend Grayson asked Ryan to play "The Longest Story" by Daphne Loves Derby. While Ryan was learning the song, I felt like I wanted to play a song, too, so I figured out how to play "Stolen" by Dashboard Confessional. After that, we just began learning more songs, one after the other.
-Why did you decide to start posting up piano covers on youtube?
During winter break 2007, we had nothing to do, and we were really bored. I thought it would be fun to make a youtube account and post up a video of myself playing "Stolen". That first video received a lot of views and good comments, so it encouraged us to post up more videos.
-Where do you get the sheet music for your songs?
There's no sheet music. We both learn songs by ear or by using guitar chords, so if you see a piece of paper on the piano, it's probably just the lyrics to the song (not sheet music).
-Can I request a song?
Sure you can. Just send a message or a comment, but sometimes we might not be able to play it either because we don't like the song (no offense) or because we're too busy trying to learn all the other songs we want to play. There's a better chance of having your request played if a lot of other people request it, too, or if one of us thinks it's a really good song.
