If I'm not mistaken, the Senate has to ratify a treaty. The President can't bring the US into one unilaterally, as he does in this film(I believe). Therefore, the generals throwing the coup are the ones protecting the Constitution and the President is the tyrant.

@ecalebw I don't mind it. Xenophobia and imperialism are like oil and water. You'll find that most of the people (like myself) with rather hawkish foreign policies tend to be fine with all forms of legal immigration.

This is the most powerful scene in the entire film, because it shows that, no matter what war (or anything else, for that matter) does to a man, nothing can strip him of his basic humanity if he wishes to retain it.
