I due stili, in molte caratteristiche opposti, risultano complementari. Il Tang Long Hu Shi unisce le caratteristiche tipiche dello stile della mantide religiosa come la forza esplosiva, l'agilità, la tecnica complessa e l'avanzato uso di spostamenti e calci, alla resistenza fisica, stabilità, durezza e ferocia delle tecniche tipiche dello stile della tigre.
