Evolution happened - get over it.
I think the vast vast majority of science deniers are merely displaying a type of Dunning-Kruger effect. When about 95% of comments that I read questioning established scientific theory can be refuted with leaving cert science (the Irish equivalent to high school) it really doesn't say much for educational standards or home schooling.
Holding a particular belief in itself isn't a crime deserving of ridicule, but using that belief as a basis for denying reality is. Because you hold a belief doesn't make that belief open to scrutiny, but asserting it as truth does.
