In early 2005, The King Left said goodbye to their friends in Ithaca, NY and headed for the bright lights and promise of life in New York City. But what they found was the same biting cold and bitter loneliness they'd left behind.
Furiously writing in their Brooklyn rehearsal space, the group began crafting a stark and dynamic, yet hopeful, collection of new songs, while regularly performing throughout Manhattan. But ironically, it was a trip back to Ithaca (during a series of dates with New York City's Nightmare Of You) when things started to really materialize.
The King Left was approached by NOY drummer Sammy Siegler (formerly of Rival Schools, CIV, Gorilla Biscuits) about the possibility of producing a few tracks. The pre-production sessions that followed gave birth to The King Left EP.
Recorded in Brooklyn with engineer Ian Love (Rival Schools), the EP showcases The King Left's earnest, pleading vocals, insistent guitars and pulsing rhythm section.
The King Left EP found great success at college radio where it was #3 most added on the CMJ (College Music Journal) charts. It peaked at #69 on the CMJ Top 200 and remained on the chart for two months.
The band is currently readying another EP in Brooklyn, NY with Sammy Siegler and Ian Love on board again for production and engineering duties. The as-yet-untitled EP is due out in late 2006.
