I write and perform my own songs (written a thousand of 'em) I sing 'em outta a passionate street-singer banshee-on-a-hill persona. I play bang 6-strings like a drum. Piano, too.
I'm what? A method actor/poet outta the classic troubadour/ balladeer/protest-singer tradition. Anti-war song 'NOBLE CAUSE' inspired by Cindy Sheehan got on FM radio & on album 'United States Of Conciousness'. A rock n roll CD "DOWN IN TOMPKINS SQUARE PARK" ;with a live CBGB"s track was offered as a valentine to the end of Bleecker Street folk, East Village punk rock and life in the theatre as a playwright/actor from Lincoln Center to LaMama, from Broadway to Tin Pan Alley. Coming to Hollywood to do a play wrote with music about my family my hometown: "AIN'T NO COYOTES IN POUGHKEEPSIE"
I inspired a documentary "Halo InMy Coffee" (about the LA coffeehouse scene) performed a solo show "thekevinkellyshow.com" & then released the critically-acclaimed rocker "LOST IN THE CRACKS OF THE MODERN WORLD" playing The Knitting Factory, The Whisky, Viper Room. etc. A soon--to-be-released rootsy acoustic-oriented "TENTCITY" featuring legenary players like drummer Gary Malaber (Bruce Springsteen), keyboardist Barry Goldberg (Bob Dylan), bassist Tony Sales (Iggy Pop) etc will be released with The Kubros Group at the end of 'O9.
