Your cloud question is a great question.
Firstly I'll watch the clouds and see what they're up to. Sometimes I'll need a telephoto lens, but sometimes a wide angle is better. Then often I'll shoot my (Nikon D70) with the manual switch on. I just try to 'see the whole picture' and look for balance and composition. Re the settings I just leave that to the Nikon. I'm not too technical inclined. What's important to me is waiting for the right moment when the cloud and sunlight is just right, or when I can see creatures up there. Once I see it's 'about' to happen I'll start shooting a whole series of shots. Hope that helps. :) M
