Some women will tell you that you can't change a brain-fevered atheist axe-murderer.
I say, those women are just quitters.
I feel much the same way about the multinational crime syndicate known as the Church of Scientology.
For over fifty years it has longed for its own penitence and redemption.
It has wandered the streets of the world like a beggar with outstretched hands, openly yearning for a great Inquisitor to prosecute its crimes.
Its flagrant pattern of rebellion against moral law has, for half a century, shaken a fist at the heavens while shouting humanity's most daring taunt:
"If You Are Actually There God, Then Get Down Here and F***ing-well Smite Me!"
It is a bold and lovely challenge.
May we one day see it answered to the satisfaction of the petitioner. Such passionate blasphemy should not go unanswered by a silent heaven.
Until then, I keep my mask on and my nose in the good book.
I love the way it ends... He who testifies to these things says "Yes, I am coming quickly." May his grace be with us and Amen. I close my eyes and savor it.
For he has heard the passionate cry of this great blasphemer, and answered it. He sent Me.
Nameless and many-limbed, the Great Inquisitor's hour has come 'round at last. I speak to you from the periphery of this rough beast so long awaited.
