Hi all, David Dunford here.

What an amazing time to be alive, right?!

Well unfortunately not everyone thinks the same considering the economic crisis we're currently facing and the constant pressure to meet work deadlines, manage the cash-flow and pay for the groceries before the prices rise next week, all while trying to raise a family to face the same struggles and pressures we are continually going through.

So why do we live like this?

Before i answer that question let's take a look at a 'typical' day in the life of a 'normal' person. From my past memories and understanding it goes a little something like this.

Let's call our candidate Joe ;)

The alarm goes off at around 6:30am (that's if Joe got a sleep in) only to have the snooze button slammed a few extra times.

After much tossing and turning Joe decides to rise and make his way to the shower after tripping over the side of the bed because He can't see where He's going in the dark.

After Joe has finished in the shower, He realises that He's slept through the alarm snoozes and is now running late for work! Oh no.

He grabs his instant coffee (no time for a real coffee or breakfast for that matter) and heads off to work.

Joe was making good time on the freeway before He ran into roadworks. After fighting what seems like every man and His dog, Joe finds himself a car-park and runs into the office scraping in just minutes before his clock on time.

After starting up His computer Joe's boss calls past and asks Him where the reports are He requested to be finished last night? Hmmm, Joe left them at home on the couch after He fell asleep trying to complete them at midnight.

Moving along, Joe's wife Sally calls at midday to let Him know that they can't pay the electricity bill as they don't have any credit left on their credit card, so Joe spends His lunchtime transferring the Christmas account funds over to the credit card and finishing those reports He left at home, AGAIN!

The rest of Joe's day at work seems to go pretty smooth except for that salary review meeting with the boss where He gets told they won't be getting any increase in salary this year due to the financial position the company is in even though Joe took it pretty well when told but later regretted mentioning to His boss that He managed to meet everyone of His deadlines and close the deal more accounts than any other associate in the business this year.

Joe finishes the day by cleaning out the gutters in the heavy rain because He had to work last Saturday when He had planned to do them. You can only imagine what else Joe had to put up with throughout the day.

I'm sure there would be plenty of people that could relate to a number of the issues that Joe experienced on any 'normal' day.

So to answer my question,
'We either fail to plan or plan to fail.'

We all want to experience a lifestyle of freedom, success and security but unfortunately fail to plan for it.
Ever heard of the say 'the definition of insanity is doing the same thing but expecting a different result'? Well, we've probably all been there at some point or another.

Your freedom will depend on who controls your plans, You or your boss?

Your success will depend on your ability to determine your income, and once again, is that currently You or your boss?

And your security is dependent on who controls your personal income.

So are you looking for freedom, success and security which can only be achieved through becoming your own boss? or;

bondage and uncertainty which comes with the job?

The only difference is some people plan for their success while others just talk about it.

You can either go with the flow and live like Joe, or start by creating a master plan for your success.

So, are you planning to fail, or failing to plan for success?
