The Darfur Challenge is a national Canadian effort for students to make a difference for young people in Darfur, Sudan.

1.8 million children are directly affected by the conflict in Darfur. They are vulnerable to acute malnutrition, violence and recruitment by armed groups, and there are few educational opportunities available to them.

From October 19, 2009 to April 30, 2010, Canadian students will be raising awareness about the issues affecting young people in Darfur. They will also compete with groups across the country to raise funds for Canadian organizations responding to the crisis in Darfur: The Darfur/Sudan Peace Network and War Child Canada. The top fundraisers will win exciting prizes.

Défi pour le Darfour est une campagne d'envergure nationale pour les étudiants d'âge secondaire ayant pour but de mettre fin à la crise humanitaire qui sévit présentement au Darfour par l'entremise d'activités de sensibiliation et de levées de fonds.

Plus de 200 000 personnes sont décédées et plus de 2 millions ont été forcé à fuir à cause de la violence engendrée par les milices dans la région occidentale du Soudan. Il est maintenant temps d'agir.

La campagne se déroule du 19 octobre 2009 au 30 avril 2010.

Les écoles pourront s'inscrire en ligne (http://www.defipourledarfour.org/participez.html), se mesurer aux autres écoles et, ultimement, faire un différence auprès des jeunes Darfouriens. Un prix sera également remis au groupe qui aura amassé le plus de fonds dans le cadre de la campagne Défi pour le Darfour.
