"At a cattle herding clinic. That was his first lesson -- the first time he had ever worked cattle, so he's a little wild. We actually had him on a long line first to make sure he wouldn't do anything silly/crazy and would listen. Then we let him off the rope to start working on fetching the cows," -- Vinnie's owner Kathleen K.

"Vinnie's first cattle training session, after he settled down and started working them nicely. We were working on getting him to fetch them just like he does sheep. You can see how when we change position in relation to the cattle that Vinnie changes direction too, so he can stay in 'balance' and move the cattle to me." -- Kathleen K.

"This was a trial (and Vinnie passed with flying colors) from from several years ago when he was at the beginning of his herding training and not very experienced. Here, Vinnie is working mostly on his natural instinct to keep the sheep grouped and with me, but he does need to have a stay at the beginning, and then do an outrun to gather them and bring them to me. Then we have to go through the center panels and the two end panels, and then back to the start and re-pen them. You can see how he goes to their heads to turn them back when they start getting too far in front of me for his liking. He will stop (lie down) when asked, and he had to keep the sheep away from the gate at the end until I opened it. Otherwise they would crowd the gate and shove through as I open it. It's a pass/fail class." -- Kathleen K.
